Data Center Transformation: Infrastructure (Network, System, Telco, VMWare)

Business Case:
Business operation was impacted with power outage, A/C issues and space constraint. After evaluating buy vs build data center, leadership approved IT team to run RFP for outsourcing data center and move it to more state of the art datacenter with power and A/C redudancies, reduce server farm foot print by virtualize them and also consolidate telco and network (MPLS) to reduce the cost.

  • Data center Migration: led and managed more than $3 million program
    1. Data Center Migration: Managed data center migration: on-Prem to the AT&T datacenter
    2. Server farm Consolidation (P2V & V2V) Replication, SAN & Blades for VM Hosts,10gb interconnect
  • Network implementations:
    1. Negotiated $2 million contract with AT & T for Colocation hosting & MPLS for 21 sites.
    2. network traffic scan, APM, MacAfee EPO and DDoS
    3. Implemented RF infrastructure for 21 remote sites including new sites from ground up.
  • Telecommunication Implementations:
    1. VoIP: Implementation of VoIP (Shortel) infrastructure across 21sites
    2. Conference Bridge: Implemented 100 port conference bridge
    3. Cell Phone Service: Negotiated $1.2 million contract; achieved > $100k/year savings for more than 1100 cell lines
